Kanazawa

On our last day in Fukui, we visited one of the most important Zen Buddhist temples in Japan: Eihei-ji, founded in 1244. After our visit, we packed up and drove on to Kanazawa, choosing a scenic route through the mountains rather than taking the expressway.

Kanazawa has noticeably more international tourists, largely because of the world-famous Kenrokuen Garden, located next to a vast castle with impressive grounds and walls.
