Trail view
Fukui
Hello again! Thank you for your interest in our website and travel photos.
Since our last update, we’ve spent more time in Nagoya and decided to rent a car to explore the Japanese countryside and villages. Japan has an incredibly efficient railway network, and most hotels are conveniently located near stations. However, we find that travelling by car allows us to feel more immersed in the landscape. It also makes it easier to visit some of the more scattered and less accessible sites.
We drove through the Japanese Alps towards Fukui, where we are currently staying at the Courtyard by Marriott. While Fukui may not be as well-known as Kyoto, there is still plenty to see and discover. We’ve come across beautiful cherry blossoms, Japanese gardens, moss gardens, castles, and shrines—almost everywhere we go.
Fukui is also known for its rich dinosaur history. At least six different species have been discovered here, and their fossilised remains are displayed in a modern museum with an impressive collection of dinosaur exhibits.
